The Ohio River Players of Southeastern Illinois

Our first play as an organized group was “Someone Save My Baby Ruth” by Billy St. John (Produced by special arrangement with PIONEER DRAMA SERVICE, INC., Englewood, Colorado). It is a tale of a lovely young widow Penny Candy and her baby Ruth who are taken in by her Aunt Praline owner of the Sweet Shoppe. A villain Sidney Swindle and his sidekick Ada Sourball are determined to cause havoc with the rest of the cast. The hero, Ernest Noble, saves the day and lives happily ever after with Penny Candy and her baby Ruth. The play was presented in Golconda on November 15 and 16, 2002 and in Vienna on November 17.
